Vampires

Feral Vampires
Found in the Dead Wastes, it is hard to tell where this species came from. They act almost purely out of instinct, but show a surprising intelligence in seeking their needs. Those who have survived an encounter report that they speak in an insectile, chittering tongue. They possess black eyes, bone-like protrusions covering their bodies, and sharp teeth. They are stronger and faster than humans, and have known to hunt in packs along the edges of the Dead Wastes. They consume the blood and flesh of other races, occasionally devouring their own if they cannot find other sustenance. Those who are scratched or bitten by a feral vampire have a chance of slowly joining their ranks.

European Vampires
This species is very different from its North American counterpart. Instead of physical matter, they suppress and consume mental activity, even from a distance. Their feeding can take place quickly, or over a long period of time, during which the victim is plagued with paranoia, nightmares, and increasing mental disorders. Those whose minds have been fully emptied by a European vampire fall into comas, and cannot be awakened until the vampire that fed upon them has been slain. As long as their victims remain comatose and alive, the vampire is able to take the shape and draw upon the memories of their victims. They were once hunted by a bloodline of dragons.

Red-Eyed Vampires
A strange breed of vampire that has been found in and near the Dead Wastes. Where the feral vampires have black eyes, this variant has red. There have been sightings of feral vampires, elves, and humans with red eyes. Corinium Ascendancy settlements in the northern Dead Wastes have been coming under attack by these red-eyed vampires.
